Monroe Weller
Monroe Weller, 102, of Montville, formerly of Verona, died Oct. 10, 2013.
Prof. Weller, who taught at Barringer High School in Newark, also had instructed Army Air Corps pilots at The Aeronautics School in Queens and taught physics, calculus and Strength of Materials for 33 years at Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT).
He was a graduate of West Side High School in Newark, Upsala College, and Montclair State College.
He was a member of Congregation Beth Ahm, Verona, since 1950. He was an Eagle Scout, the youngest lifesaving certified instructor in the nation at age 16, and a pilot while still in his teens.
Predeceased by his wife of 74 years, Naomi, in October 2012, he is survived by his daughter, Judith (Irwin) Paster of Pine Brook; his son, Daniel (Jane) of Long Valley; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 13 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Cedar Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth Ahm.
