Morris Roth
Morris Roth of Clark died Sept. 27, 2012. Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Clark for over 45 years.
Mr. Roth worked for a variety of newspapers throughout the West before returning to New Jersey to work for the Newark Evening News. Later, he was a newsman for the Elizabeth Daily Journal and then a senior writer for 24 years at the Rutgers University News Service.
He received a BA in journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He was a very active member of the men’s club of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah, Clark, serving twice as president. He later became president of the Northern New Jersey Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs.
Predeceased by his wife, Eveline, he is survived by three sons, Leonard of Summit, Michael of Springfield, and Aaron of Clark; his daughter, Vickie Gilbert of Short Hills; and three grandchildren.
