Morton J. Edelman of Union died Oct. 31, 2019. He was born and raised in Plainfield and previously lived in Scotch Plains, South Plainfield, and North Plainfield.
Mr. Edelman was a chemist at Merck in Rahway from 1955 to 1993.
He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1947 and Seton Hall University in 1952 where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Mr. Edelman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was based in Ft. Dix and Ft. Knox, Tenn.
A longtime member of Temple Sholom in Scotch Plains, he enjoyed driving, summer vacations in Miami, and volunteering.
Predeceased by his wife, Sylvia, and brother Gene, he is survived by daughter Pam (fiancé Randy Lieberman) of Gaithersburg, Md.; son Rick (Cindy) of Hillsborough; two grandchildren; and companion Regina Gomer.
