After her two daughters began college, Mrs. Hemmat attended Rutgers University, earning her B.A. degree in psychology, and then her M.S.W. at Montclair State College. She worked at Greystone Psychiatric Hospital as a social worker for over 10 years before her retirement.
She was a member of Morristown Jewish Center Beit Yisrael for almost 30 years, and later joined Temple Har Shalom in Warren.
Her hobbies and talents included gardening, sewing, baking, and interior design.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Linda Hemmat and Audrey (Gary) Taffet; a brother, Parviz Danielpour; and three grandsons.
Graveside services were held April 14 at Mt. Freedom Hebrew Cemetery; a memorial will be planned for later this year. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Har Shalom or Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, East Hanover.
