Nettie Bzura
Nettie Bzura, 95, of Highland Beach, Fla., died March 18, 2018. She was born in Union City and also had lived in South Orange.
Mrs. Bzura, along with her late husband, Hyman (“Hy”), were the founders of Madison Industries, Inc., Old Bridge Chemicals, Inc., and affiliated companies, leaders in recycling zinc and copper chemicals.
She graduated with a degree in education from New Jersey State Teachers College at Jersey City.
She was the founder of Hillel Academy Day School in Perth Amboy. She and her husband established the Nettie Bzura Scholarship Fund that has provided graduate education for students majoring in chemical engineering at City College of New York.
She had been a significant contributor to and member/trustee of numerous public and private charities and associations, both local and international, including Hadassah and its medical centers in Jerusalem and Congregation Beth El. She was recognized for her longstanding sponsorship of both Special Olympics and Rotary International.
She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne (Andrew I.) Radmin; two sons, Bruce (Laurie) and Joel (Jill); a sister, Marion Schuster; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by American Burial & Cremation Center at Jennings Funeral Home, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
