New memory care community to open in January
ARTIS SENIOR LIVING of Princeton Junction, a specialized Memory Care Community, will open in January, on Alexander Road near the Princeton Junction train station.
Artis — which, say its executives, offers a “nurturing, safe environment where compassionate staff associates treat each resident as an individual” — has 60 years of experience in the field of senior living care, with specific expertise in the design, development, and operation of memory care residences.
At Artis, said Barbara Forshner, director of community relations, the focus is on “forming positive partnerships.”
Executive director Kelly McNulty said, “Many of our care partners have had personal experience caring for loved ones with memory loss and are therefore passionate about memory care.” Artis requires extensive dementia training for its associates, she added.
Artis uses extensive profiles of residents “to create a unique care plan for each individual,” said Sharonda Hogans, director of partnership development, with their life interests often incorporated into the schedule of activities.
The facility consists of 64 private rooms among four neighborhoods, each with a dining room, open kitchen, and porch, a design, said Maureen Gallagher, director of health and wellness, that “emphasizes familiarity, helping residents locate their apartments and acclimate to their surroundings.”
Artis is accepting reservations for the first residents, who it is expected will move in the end of January. Residents who are part of the Artis Legacy Club will have the $3,000 community fee waived. A grand opening is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 21.
