NJJN WON TWO awards in the New Jersey Press Association (NJPA) 2018 Better Newspaper Contest.

NJ Jewish camps director resigns over past sexual harassment claims” (April 12, 2018), by New York Jewish Week staff writer Hannah Dreyfus, with contributed reporting by NJJN staff writer Johanna Ginsberg and Jewish Week editor Gary Rosenblatt, and several ensuing stories, took first place in the category of investigative reporting. The series chronicled revelations of sexual harassment allegations against NJY Camps executive director Leonard Robinson and the fallout, which included Robinson’s resignation and shake up of the NJY Camps board.

Ginsberg also placed second in the category of enterprise reporting for “End of an era for Sam’s” (Sept. 20, 2018), which recalled the evolution of the now-shuttered men’s clothing store from its origins in Newark selling fabric off a pushcart to a landmark in Livingston that outfitted generations of bar mitzvah boys.

NJPA will present its press awards on April 11 at The Hamilton Manor.
