Outstanding ambassador
I appreciated the article “Jewish group lobbying for sites in Ukraine,” about efforts to assist in the preservation of Jewish historical sites (March 24), but I must correct the impression given in the article of Geoffrey Pyatt, U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. I have since spoken to Ira Forman, the United States’ special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism; Rabbi Yaakov Bleich, the Chabad chief rabbi of Ukraine; and others about Amb. Pyatt. All have assured me that he has been the most caring and concerned ambassador that has served the United States in Ukraine, especially on the issue of preserving Jewish cemeteries and cultural sites.
