Pardon Pollard
Jonathan Pollard should be pardoned based strictly on humanitarian principle, especially as his health is declining. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s request to Secretary of State Kerry that the U.S. release Pollard from prison is essentially inappropriate, since Israel was the recipient of Pollard’s documents.
It is crucial that Pollard not be allowed to leave the United States, to avoid possibly being greeted in Israel as a hero, which would be a disgrace to American Jewry. He is a U.S. citizen, having committed treason to his country. Although President Obama has to consider all national security issues, he should give serious consideration to the humanitarian situation.
