Philip Dicks
Philip Stephen Dicks, 71, of Wanaque died Nov. 23, 2019.
Mr. Dicks graduated with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering in 1970 from State University of New York at Buffalo. He began working for New York Telephone Company (AT&T), and then utilized his training to determine the feasibility of patents for Raymond Lee Organization. In the early 1980s, he worked on optical character recognition (OCR) technology for CompuScan before starting two small businesses, processing patents and trademarks and distributing special use paint products, which he ran until very recently.
Spending almost 25 years in a wheelchair and almost 10 years without use of his arms and hands, he utilized adaptive technology to stay as independent as possible.
He is survived by his wife, Meri; two sons, Rob Dicks (Caroline Spector Dicks) and Scott D. (Abby) Friedman; and four grandchildren.
