Phyllis Lipsett
Phyllis Lipsett (Javitch), 90, of Maplewood died Sept. 14, 2017. Born in Carlisle, Pa., she later lived in Harrisburg, Pa.; Scotch Plains; and Boynton Beach, Fla.
While living in Harrisburg, Mrs. Lipsett served as a sisterhood officer at Beth El Temple, a Hadassah board member, and president of the Jewish Home Guild. She also read to the blind and was instrumental in helping Soviet Jews resettle in this country during the 1970s.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Norman; her son, Yale (Brochi); two daughters, Beth Lipsett Berman (fiancé Laszlo) and Julie Lipsett Singer (David); 12 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 17 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth El and Silver Academy, both of Harrisburg; or Historic B’nai Jacob Synagogue in Middletown, Pa.
