Rambam campus honors Barers of Mendham
DR. SOL AND MERI Barer of Mendham were honored July 27 by Rambam Heath Care Campus in Haifa. A ceremony marked the official opening of the Meri and Sol J. Barer Pediatrics Inpatient Department in the campus’s Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital; it was built and equipped as the result of a generous gift from the couple.
“What draws us to support Rambam Health Care Center is the diversity of the staff and the cooperation and respect with which they all work together in order to save lives,” said Meri Barer. “I visited the Atrium, our pet project, in the Children’s Hospital, upon its completion. I was brought to tears when parents came up to me to tell me that their children were no longer afraid to come to the doctor, that they actually looked forward to it because of the fun that they had in the playroom.
“I observed religious Jewish and Muslim women sitting next to each other with their children playing happily on the floor,” said Barer. “I don’t think that there’s another place on earth that can compare to Rambam Hospital.”
“We are so grateful for all of the Barers’ generous donations,” said Dr. Esty Golan, Rambam’s director of international relations. “Their contributions directly affect our ability to be the top pediatric hospital for children in northern Israel.”
