ReelAbilities film festival

The ReelAbilities Film Festival — which aims to promote the awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with different abilities — will be hosted locally Oct. 30-Nov. 5 at the Cooperman JCC in West Orange and at Montclair State University. 

The following films will be screened at the Cooperman JCC: 

Sunday, Oct. 30, 5 p.m.: Shooting Beauty and On Beauty 

Thursday, Nov. 3, 7 p.m.: Twice Exceptional 

Saturday, Nov. 5, 7:30 p.m.: A Blind Hero: The Love of Otto Weidt, a docudrama about blind factory owner Otto Weidt who protected his employees from the Nazis

The following films will be screened at MSU:

Tuesday, Nov. 1, 8 p.m.: The Finishers and Bumblebees, followed by a discussion and reception

Wednesday, Nov. 2, 6:30 p.m.: Marguerita with a Straw, with guest Ali Stroker, the first actress and wheelchair user with a Broadway role, followed by a reception

Thursday, Nov. 3, 7:45 p.m.: No Ordinary Hero: The Superdeafy Movie, followed by a presentation on hearing loss and a cast meet-and-greet
