Richard E. (“Dick”) Lavroff, 86, of Clark died June 6, 2020. Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington and Hillside before moving to Clark in 1964.
Mr. Lavroff was the owner of Deli King of Clark for 34 years before retiring in 2017. Prior to that, he owned the Millburn Kosher Meat & Poultry Market and Arlington Plaza Deli in Parsippany.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953, where he attained the rank of corporal. Stationed in Austria and Germany, he led a heavy weapons squad, qualified as a marksman, and received the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a longtime member of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah, Jewish War Veterans, and B’nai B’rith Lodge #2093. He also served as a member of the County Committee representing the Democratic Party in Ward 4, District 4, Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Elissa; his daughter, Karen (John) Hawkins; two sons, Jay (Pam) and Kenneth (Davida Berkowitz); and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be private; arrangements were handled by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
