Robert I. Zashin
Robert (“Bob”) I. Zashin, 70, of Cleveland died Oct. 28, 2010. Born in Brooklyn, he was formerly of Irvington.
Mr. Zashin cofounded Zashin & Rich Co., LPA, in 1981. Prior to that, he was a trial referee in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, Division of Domestic Relations. At Zashin & Rich, Bob was involved in many of the most important family law cases in Ohio over the past three decades. He lectured frequently at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he was a life member and honorary trustee, and at domestic relations seminars on all areas of family law. For many years he hosted a weekly radio talk show focusing primarily on legal and political issues and on current events.
He earned his BA from Rutgers University in 1962 and an MA in education in 1966. He earned his law degree after attending night school at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1967.
He was a past president of the Ohio chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and was a member of the Character and Fitness, Grievance, and Judicial Selection committees of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association. He was listed in The Best Lawyers in America for many years, was selected as a Super Lawyer and was hailed by the Cleveland Press as one of Cleveland’s Top 10 Lawyers.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marcia; two sons, Andrew and Stephen; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 29 with arrangements by Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, Cleveland Heights. Memorial contributions may be made to the Solon Chabad Center, Cleveland’s Friendship Circle, or the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
