Rockaway Chabad Center to begin new courses

Rabbi Asher Herson
Rabbi Asher Herson

Rabbi Asher Herson, the Chabad Center of Northwest NJ’s regional director, will teach “Heaven on Earth – Exploring the Temple Mount in Jerusalem,” beginning July 31, at 7 p.m., at the Rockaway Township center. The three-week interactive course, available both in person and online, will focus on the history and spiritual significance of the Temple in Jerusalem. It includes PowerPoint presentations and biblical and talmudic documentation and archaeological findings.

The course takes place during the Three Weeks, commemorating the time when, some 2,000 years ago, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Beit Hamikdash. Ever since, Jews throughout the world have marked this period annually.

A second course, “Deuteronomy in Detail,” led by Rabbi Herson, will begin on August 5, at 7 p.m., at the Chabad Center. The 10-week course, offered in person and online, will delve into the book of Deuteronomy and aims to provide insights into contemporary life circumstances and challenges.

Both courses have self-contained sessions; students can join at any time.
