Rose Kessler Gilbert (Kurzban), 94, of Mendham, formerly of East Orange and Union, died June 10, 2015.
Together with her husband, Paul, Mrs. Gilbert established The Village Pharmacy in Irvington, where she operated the family business for 40 years until her retirement. The pharmacy was the first to own a Barton’s Chocolate franchise and was known for its old-fashioned soda and ice cream fountains.
She was a Ladies Auxiliary member of the New Jersey Pharmacists Association.
Predeceased by her first husband, Paul Kessler, she is survived by her son, Larry M. (Judy) Kessler of Mendham; two grandsons; and her former husband, Morris Gilbert.
Services were held June 14 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
