Rosemarie (Romi) Turak

Rosemarie (Romi) Turak, 87, of Tamarac, Fla., died Jan. 1, 2011. Born in Berlin, she also lived in Queens,

Nutley, Livingston, and Cranbury before moving to Tamarac 15 years ago.

Mrs. Turak earned a BA from Hunter College and an MA in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Columbia University Teachers College, both in New York City.

She was a longtime member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston, a life member of NCJW’s Essex County Section and Hadassah, and a member of Brandeis. She was also involved with Jewish Adoptions & Foster Care Options (JAFCO), Sunrise, Fla.

Predeceased by her husband, Alex, whom she married in 1946, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy Turak; her son, Robert (Bob); a brother, Alfred Weil of London; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 5 with arrangements by Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapel, Coconut Creek, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah or JAFCO.
