Ruth Eisenberg
Ruth Eisenberg, 87, of Verona died Oct. 13, 2014.
Mrs. Eisenberg was president of Women’s American ORT during a period of unprecedented growth into a membership organization of 120,000 women, and presided over the expansion of ORT’s system of state-of-the-art vocational schools in Israel and throughout the world. After her presidency, she remained active on ORT’s international committee, and continued in other capacities until illness made such work impossible. She was a volunteer and fund-raiser for ORT her entire adult life, and traveled the world as an ORT leader and goodwill ambassador.
She was valedictorian of her high school in Union, skipping two grades. She then attended University of Michigan, where she majored in music, studying classical piano.
Predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Jack Eisenberg, and her second husband, Leon Moskowitz, she is survived by her daughter, Sheryl of Brooklyn; her son, Ted of North Caldwell; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 14 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
