Ruth Schwartz
Ruth Weinberg Schwartz, 101, of Maplewood died Nov. 29, 2018. Born in Newark, she lived most of her life in Essex County, with a brief sojourn in Florida.
Mrs. Schwartz returned to college in middle age and graduated with a B.S.W. from Kean College, followed by an M.S.W. from Fordham University. She was a social worker at Runnells Hospital and several other agencies before retiring at age 70.
An avid gardener and reader, she enjoyed tennis, swimming, and world travel.
Predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Bert, in 2009, she is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Maureen) of Milford, Conn., and Richard (Frances Hecker) of Montclair; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Dec. 2 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
