Sacred texts

Dr. Brooks Susman and Dr. Christopher Bellitto will explore “Do the sacred texts of the Bible act as texts for study, or pretexts for individual theologies?” on Sunday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m. at The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, Freehold.

Susman, rabbi emeritus at Congregation Kol Am in Freehold, and Bellitto, associate professor of history at Kean University, will discuss topics looking at biblical texts in light of 21st-century realities and will also focus on the last half-century of Jewish-Catholic relations. The two have lectured as a pair for a decade, with the goal of bridging the historical gap between Judaism and Christianity and promoting understanding and good faith.

Admission is $8, $5 for members; for paid reservations, call 732-252-6990 or visit jhmomc.org.
