Sanders M. Fuerstman
Sanders M. Fuerstman of Pompton Plains died Sept. 27, 2010.
Dr. Fuerstman was a podiatrist for 68 years in Kearny.
A World War II veteran, he served as an anesthetist with the 50th General Hospital in France, a 1,500-bed hospital that was the first army hospital of that size to be set up in tents.
He was a charter member of the Kearny Lions Club, having served as secretary and past president.
He was a past chairman of the Eastern Division of the NJ Podiatric Medical Society and had been the editor of the State Society Journal for many years. He was a life member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the NJ Podiatric Medical Society.
Predeceased by his first wife, Ruth, he is survived by his wife Mindy; two sons, Robert of Randolph and Jerold of Livingston; two stepsons, Eric Bershad of Pine Brook and Russell Bershad of Titusville; his brother, Elwood of Boca Raton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 29 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
