Sanford Gurtov
Sanford Allen “Sandy” Gurtov, 83, of Monroe Township died May 19, 2017. Born in Newark, he also had resided in Roselle and North Brunswick.
Mr. Gurtov had been a salesman for his entire career before retiring.
He was a member of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick, where he had been active with the youth group. While living in North Brunswick, he was a mayoral candidate, served as a member of Fire Company #3 as a dispatcher, and was a member of Youth Soccer League, Not Ready for Broadway Players, and many numerous other organizations. After moving to Monroe, he sang in the chorus at The Ponds and was very active in STARZ and many other activities, including bocce.
He is survived by his wife, Hannah (Borkan); his son, David (Beth) of Glendale, Colo.; his daughter, Hilary (Rick) Dambach of Milford, Pa.; a sister, Joyce Fishelberg of Monroe; and a granddaughter.
Services were held May 22 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to AEMT or a charity of choice.
