Sarah Sofman
Sarah Sofman (Trugman), 97, of Cranford died Sept. 17, 2015. Born in Newark, she also had resided in Roselle Park.
Mrs. Sofman was a Hebrew school teacher for many years in Cranford, Clark, Scotch Plains, and Colonia. She taught adult Jewish education in Cranford and also was a private Hebrew school tutor.
She was a graduate of Weequahic High School in Newark.
A life member of Hadassah’s Roselle-Cranford chapter, she was honored as their “Woman of the Year” in 1982. She was also active in the sisterhood of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah in Clark, Jewish Women’s International, and the Thursday Senior Citizens Club in Cranford.
Predeceased by her husband, Morris, she is survived by two daughters, Elaine Rose Sofman and Susan Carol Sofman, both of Cranford.
Services were held Sept. 20 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Roselle-Cranford Hadassah, c/o Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim, Cranford, or Barnabas Health Hospice & Palliative Care Center, West Orange.
