Saul Brazer

Saul Brazer, 90, of Hillsborough died Sept. 27, 2017.

Mr. Brazer, an Army veteran of World War II, was a home builder who started out with a $500 loan. He was the first builder in New Jersey to construct and market condominiums in Cranford. The president of Brazer Construction and Samuel Enterprises, both of Mountainside, he also built single-family home developments in Mountainside and Westfield. The latter project occurred after he convinced the mayor of Westfield that he could take unusable, water-covered land near Echo Park and build it up through home construction.

He is survived by two sons, Phillip (Dana) of Hillsborough and David (Lori) of Mountainside; his daughter, Susan of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 29 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Maplewood.
