Saving lives
All of us at Jewish Family Service appreciated Elaine Durbach’s wonderful article “JFS sheds light on guarding elderly from falls” (Oct. 7) concerning our fall prevention program. First of all, we thank New Jersey Jewish News for highlighting our important work and wanted to add a further note concerning the areas we service as an organization.
We provide many types of services on an annual basis to thousands of individuals throughout Central New Jersey. In addition to the Elmora section of Elizabeth and the Vauxhall section of Union, our federally funded NORC/LINKS program also provides services to the town of Westfield, helping the senior populations of these communities to age in place. The expansion of our NORC/LINKS program into Westfield was also made possible through the efforts of Rep. Leonard Lance. We at JFS would like to take this opportunity to thank him for championing the federal legislation that helped us secure the funding for this important and potentially life-saving program.
Moreover, we will be continuing our multi-disciplinary work as part of the NORC/LINKS program throughout Central New Jersey. And finally, we are especially grateful that we can help Westfield seniors as part of our fall prevention program.
