Judy Klitsner, a senior lecturer at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, where she holds the Rabbi Joshua S. Bakst chair in Tanakh, recently led a teaching session at Princeton’s Center for Jewish Life.

Her talk, “Your Brother’s Blood is Crying: Biblical Origins of Our Fractured Society,” examined whether biblical stories of family strife provide us with hope for repairing our own society. Ms. Klitsner and students analyzed several sibling-centered stories in the book of Genesis to compare to narratives of Jewish people today, noting the enduring theme of fractiousness among siblings.

The Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies is an open, inclusive, diverse and intellectually challenging Jewish learning community with programs worldwide. For information, go to www.pardes.org.il.
