Sheldon Schachter
Sheldon Schachter, 86, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Dec. 25, 2014. Born in Newark, he was formerly of Livingston.
Mr. Schachter was a partner in the law firm of Kleinberg, Moroney, Masterson and Schachter, where he specialized in bankruptcy law and corporate reorganization. In later years he opened up his own law firm in Livingston.
After his retirement from law at the age of 79, he wrote and published two legal mysteries in his 80s.
He attended Rutgers University and New York University Law School.
He enlisted in the Navy during World War II at the age of 18.
He was a member of Delaire Country Club, Delray Beach, Fla., and Cedar Hill Country Club in Livingston, where he served as president.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helene (Newman); two daughters, Lesley (Tom) Laurita of East Hanover and Robin (Tim) Kronk of Morris Township; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 28 with arrangements by Gutterman’s Inc., Rockville Centre, NY.
