Shirley Rubenstein, 97, of Livingston died Nov. 2, 2019. She was born in Newport, R.I., and as a child lived in Bayonne and Newark before later moving to Maplewood and then Livingston.
Mrs. Rubenstein worked at the Newark News as a bookkeeper, in retail for Hahne & Co., as well as for a local radio station. After she retired, she had her own booth in an antiques center in Roseland, where she bought and sold antiques, and helped cane chairs with her husband.
She graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark.
Predeceased by her husband, Emanuel (“Manny”), and a grandchild, Daniel, she is survived by two sons, Michael (Sunday) and David (Deborah); and six grandchildren.
