Sidney Gertler
Sidney Gertler, 91, of Monroe Township died Jan. 2, 2014. Born in Scranton, Pa., he was raised in Manhattan’s Lower East Side and later lived in Queens; Levittown, Long Island; and Old Bridge before moving to Monroe in 1995.
Mr. Gertler was retired from Kramer Trenton, where he worked as a comptroller.
He served his country in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Gertler was a member and past lodge president of B’nai B’rith and past member of Congregation Beth Ohr in Old Bridge. He was a member of Clearbrook Jewish Congregation, Monroe.
Predeceased by his wife Helen in 1997, he is survived by his wife Barbara Kuntz Gertler; his son, Richard (Ellen) Gertler of Teaneck; his daughter, Sandy Stubenhaus (James Drayton) of Trenton; a sister, Jeanette Weschkoff; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 5 with arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Edison. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish National Fund.
