Sidney Gross
Sidney E. Gross, 83, of Lawrenceville died March 14, 2013. Born in Trenton, he was a longtime resident of Allentown, Pa.
Mr. Gross began his executive career in 1953, as assistant manager of distribution for Maidenform, Inc. He moved on to plant manager for Bobbie Brooks and then senior engineer. Later he was the general manager for the Beeline Company. By 1972, he was president, director, and CEO of the Goulder Company, Inc., a women’s apparel manufacturing company.
He was appointed and served on the Panel of Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association.
He graduated from Trenton Central High School and from Rutgers University with a bachelor of science in industrial management.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He began drawing and painting as a hobby during his working career. Upon retirement in 1995, he became a serious watercolor painter. He studied under Master Artist Lewis Panagini, a renowned painter, teacher, and art professor at Montclair College. By 1997, he became a member and director of the Burlington County Art Guild and the NJ Garden State Watercolor Society, which awarded his artwork in many juried exhibitions. He was declared a “Master Watercolor Painter” by teacher and peers.
Predeceased by his son, Mark Barry (Kathy) Gross, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene Levin Gross; his daughter, Debrah Gross Nazarski (Caesar Nazarski); four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held March 18 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Adath Israel Congregation, Lawrenceville, or Greenwood House, Ewing.
