Siegfried Wahrman
Siegfried (Ziggy) Wahrman, 79, of Elizabeth died Sept. 7, 2011. Born in Leipzig, Germany, he came to the United States in 1939 and resided in Cincinnati and Brooklyn before moving to Elizabeth in 1963.
Mr. Wahrman worked as a chemist for Sandoz (Novartis) for 31 years until his retirement in 1994.
He earned a master’s degree in chemistry from Brooklyn College and received smiha (rabbinical ordination) from Rabbi Hutner at Chaim Berlin.
He served as gabbai at Congregation Bais Yitzchok Chevrah T’hillim in Elizabeth for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Roberta; two daughters, Amy Krumbein of Efrat, Israel, and Elise Ginsberg of Teaneck; his son, Shamai of Jerusalem; a brother, Rabbi Shlomo Wahrman of Queens; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 7 at the Jewish Educational Center, Elizabeth, followed by burial in Israel.
