Smart, savvy Bob

Smart, savvy Bob

Shock and awe came over me when I saw Bob Wiener’s photo, with all his gorgeous curls, on the Sept. 20 front page (“In memoriam: Robert Wiener, 1940-2018”). My love for Bob goes back many years, when we were young and carefree and would socialize at Jewish events. Bob was always smart, savvy, and witty — he was the main attraction for me whenever we were together.

When my husband Howard died last year, Bob wrote a brilliant eulogy for NJJN. After Howard’s funeral, on the very first day of shiva, there was Bob, standing in my daughter’s kitchen. I sat in a chair and pulled him next to me. He took my hand and didn’t let it go. Unfortunately, I waited a little too long to see him and hold his hand, and tell him one last time of my love for him.
