South Orange cantor is honored

Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel’s cantor, Rebecca Moses, received the 2022 President’s Award for Volunteerism from the American Conference of Cantors. It was presented in recognition of her commitment and dedication to Jewish music and the cantorate.

ACC’s president, Cantor Claire Franco, bestowed the honor to Cantor Moses on June 8 in Chicago, at the group’s annual conference. Cantor Moses has served in ACC leadership roles and is the incoming secretary of the executive board.

Cantor Moses joined Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in 2012. In 2009, she was ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music in Manhattan, where she earned a master’s in sacred music. She holds a bachelor’s of music in vocal performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music.

Cantor Moses is celebrating her 10th anniversary at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel. She was honored at a special concert and reception at TSTI on June 18.
