Stuck with Hamas

Your recent editorial on the new U.S.-led Israel-Palestine peace talks (“Hope, not optimism,” Aug. 1)referred wistfully to the prospect that “a series of confidence-building steps” might “isolate Hamas.”

It’s a little late for that. And those who think the Obama administration is on board for that are kidding themselves. The writing is on the wall. Whatever the likelihood of any accord or preliminary agreement, hate it or not, Hamas is part of the deal.
