Susan Kriegman
Susan Kriegman, 60, of Princeton died July 26, 2010. She was born in Newark, raised in Springfield, and lived in Vermont, Hawaii, and Michigan before moving to Princeton.
Ms. Kriegman was an art teacher for 23 years, most recently at South Brunswick High School, retiring in 2007.
A doctoral candidate in Art Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, she graduated from University of Vermont with a degree in art education. She received a master of fine arts from Washington University School of Art.
Her metalwork and jewelry collections were widely viewed in exhibitions throughout the United States. She was the recipient of numerous Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Artist and Educator Grants from 1994 through 2006. Listed in Who’s Who Among American Teachers, she was also named Lifetime Distinguished Member, Society of North American Goldsmiths, and One of 50 Distinguished Alumni, Washington University School of Art. She served on the board of directors of Peters Valley Art Center in Layton from 1988 to 1995.
Predeceased by her mother, Frances (Pearl), she is survived by her father, Leonard; a brother, Andrew of Summit; a sister, Janice Kriegman-Berger of Mt. Tabor; a nephew, Samuel; and two nieces, Katherine and Rebecca.
Services were held July 29 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to “Cure PSP”, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
