Teens serve the world
J-Serve a day of “Jewish Teens Serving the World” — will be staged locally on Sunday, April 10, by Jewish Federation in the Heart of NJ. Hundreds of students in sixth-12th grades are expected to join thousands of others across the globe participating in the event to help “make the world a better place.”
The local event will include such activities as Israel advocacy training, Funky Yoga and smoothies, spending time with kids with special needs, intergenerational arts and crafts, and running a PJ Library program for preschoolers.
“Participating in J-Serve gives young people an opportunity to fulfill the Jewish values of gemilut hasadim (acts of loving-kindness), tzedaka (just and charitable giving), and tikun olam (repairing the world),” said Laura Safran, the federation’s director of community impact. “Plus it feels great being part of a group all pulling together.”
