The Bible and social reform in America
Dr. Claudia Setzer of Manhattan University will talk to Dr. Gary A. Rendsburg of Rutgers University about her new book, “The Progressives’ Bible: How Scriptural Interpretation Built a More Just America.” The conversation — the Toby and Herbert Stolzer Annual Lecture — is set for Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m., at the Douglass Student Center in New Brunswick. It’s presented by the Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers University. Dr. Setzer’s book, is about women’s activism, as well as the contemporary social justice movements that draw strength from a range of biblical and religious traditions.
