The ‘fear’ position
I applaud the position Andrew Silow-Carroll expressed in his column “The Campus Fear Factor” (Dec. 23). We are running scared in the face of the “delegitimization” of Israel. Responding from a “fear” position often leads to mimicking the tactics of the opposing side and ironically and inadvertently validates their position.
We see the tragedies all around us of “identifying with the aggressor.” When you hit the child in response to the child’s aggression, you simply validate their behavior. Educating ourselves in our own cause is the best assurance of survival: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
