The Obama record
Mark Meyerowitz is entitled to his negative opinion of President Obama. But he is certainly not entitled to make up his own facts (Letter, “A pathetic record,” Nov. 13).
The Obama administration has provided more military aid to Israel than any previous administration. This includes $929.3 million in U.S. defense appropriations since FY2011 in the development and construction of Israel’s life-saving Iron Dome missile defense system.
Under the Obama administration, the United States has been in relentless pursuit of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Although without meaningful success thus far, contrast this with the Bush administration, which almost immediately upon taking office detached itself from the negotiation process.
Meyerowitz criticizes the administration for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq. Did he expect our forces to remain for another decade? Most Americans supported our withdrawal after the tragic and costly war that we were misled in to.
Frequent polls have indicated America’s standing among our traditional allies is higher now than at any time in the past decade.
No one would suggest that the administration’s policies have been without flaws. But that is a far cry from labeling President Obama as a Muslim sympathizer.
