The Romney ethic

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks has written a book called To Heal a Fractured World, about Jewish ethics. To those of the Jewish faith who espouse the candidacy of Mitt Romney for president, I  recommend chapter three of that book, “Charity as Justice,” in which Rabbi Sacks explores the meaning of tzedaka, an untranslatable word combining the meanings of charity and justice.

Charity and justice (tzedaka) are part of the Jewish tradition of helping the 47 percent of our brethren who may be in need. That Old Testament concept is lacking in the Romney ethic.
