Thea Colvin
Thea Colvin, 81, of East Orange died Nov. 30, 2014.
Ms. Colvin, an educator her whole life, worked for the Department of Defense teaching elementary age children on armed forces bases in the United States, Germany, England, Korea, and Japan. An expert in art education as well, she served as curator to a special exhibit of Asian art at Seton Hall University from 2004 to 2009.
A graduate of University of Connecticut, she received a graduate degree in fine arts from Penn State University.
She was a member of the Essex Stencil Club and very involved in sculpting.
She is survived by two brothers, George (Natalie) Colvin of Philadelphia and Harold (Carol) Colvin of Frisco, Texas; four nephews and nieces, Andrew, Gerald, Lisa, and Rachel Colvin; and six grandnephews.
Services were held Dec. 3 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels, Cedar Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Newark Museum.
