Trevor Ross Melamed
Trevor Ross Melamed, 35, of South Burlington, Vt., died Sept. 17, 2014. Born in Denville, he was raised in White Meadow Lake. He moved to South Burlington a few years ago.
Dr. Melamed practiced psychiatry in the greater Philadelphia area for about two years. He later worked at the Veterans Administration in both Ukiah, Calif., and Columbia, SC, and was expecting to open a private practice at the time of his death.
He was a 1997 graduate of Newark Academy, Livingston. He graduated in 2001 from the University of Vermont, Burlington, with a dual major in biology/chemistry and psychology. He graduated in 2006 from medical school at the University of Saba-School of Medicine, Netherlands Antilles. He returned to Burlington to complete his four-year residency in psychiatry at University of Vermont’s Fletcher Allen Hospital, where he was the first recipient of the Bernstein Award in Teaching Excellence.
He had a special interest in autism and in helping young adults.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Melamed of Leland, NC, formerly of Denville; his father, Milton Melamed of Florham Park; and a brother, Brandon Melamed of South Burlington, formerly of Denville and White Meadow Lake.
Services were held Sept. 19 with arrangements by Coble Ward-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, Wilmington, NC.
