TSS participated in Mitzvah Day

Cantor Jason M Rosenman, Edie Ben-Israel, Pam and Marc Bain, Richard Brown, Roger Held, and Sue and Mike Marcus represented Temple Sha’arey Shalom of Springfield at Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ’s Community Mitzvah Day on April 7.

The goal of the volunteers at Hanson Park in Cranford was to help clean up the park. More than 30 participants from the non-profit conservancy that manages Hanson Park and community residents joined to tidy up the park by removing fallen limbs and twigs. The volunteers also replenished the woodchip path from the amphitheater to the chimney. They also created a woodchip sitting area near the five new garden plots and planted pansies at the sign bed and in the urns to beautify the park.

TSS has chosen Hanson Park for its Mitzvah Day work to honor the memory of Jan Lilien, a dedicated member of the TSS community. The park houses the Jan Lilien Memorial Garden, which includes a wind sculpture and several benches.
