Veniamin Karp

Veniamin Karp (aka Boris Karp) of Scotch Plains died Feb. 18, 2013.

Born in Daugaupils, Latvia, he served in the army of the Soviet Union during World War II as a sargent in charge of laying landmines. He was later sent to the Siberian Gulag during the terror of the Stalin era.

He immigrated to the United States, first settling in Union, then Scotch Plains 13 years ago.

Predeceased by his wife, Rimma Erukhimova, he is survived by his children, Dr. Anna Chernyak of Scotch Plains and Inna Lupyan of East Brunswick; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 19 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
