Vernon Futterman
Vernon Futterman, 94, of West Orange died Aug. 18, 2019. He was born in Brooklyn.
Mr. Futterman worked in the textile industry for over 50 years, initially in sales and ultimately owning his own company. As part of his textile work, he traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and New York University School of Law.
A World War II decorated war hero and Purple Heart recipient, he was one of the last survivors of the World War II Yankee Division.
He served as an officer and was an active, longstanding member of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, South Orange. He was an avid golfer and tennis player.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbe (Gurland); two sons, Andrew (Amy Wolfson) and Ned (Jeanine); a sister, Millicent Auerbach; a brother, Nachman; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 20 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
