Vivian Bergman
Vivian Bergman (Banks), 90, of Boca Raton, Fla., died June 20, 2013. Born in Norfolk, Va., she had resided in Hillside for most of her life before moving to Boca Raton 20 years ago. She also spent many summers in New York’s Adirondacks.
Mrs. Bergman had worked as a registered nurse at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark.
She and her husband were owners of thoroughbred horses and were racing enthusiasts, especially at Monmouth Park Racetrack and Saratoga Racetrack in New York.
She was active in Hadassah, the Boca Teeca Paramedics, and various charities. She and her husband were founding members of Congregation Shomrei Torah in Hillside.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Burton; three daughters, Beverly (David) Strauss of Boca Raton, Susan (Malcolm) Hermele of Livingston, and Nancy (Larry) Pantirer of Short Hills; her son, Samuel (Elisa) of Yardley, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
Services were held June 23 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
