WAE Center presents “Doorways to Infinite Possibility”
TEN LOCAL professional artists have been commissioned to create a piece in collaboration with WAE Center studio artists on the theme of “Doorways to Infinite Possibility.” The final works will be featured at the Gaelen Gallery East at the Leon & Toby Cooperman JCC, Ross Family Campus in West Orange, from Nov. 4 to Dec. 30. The opening reception will be held on Nov. 11.
Each of the selected artists — Amy Tingle, Claude Larson, Yvette Lucas, Deniz Olcay, Ellen Hanauer, Heidi Sussman, Keely McCool, Madison Berry, Mansa Mussa, and Teela Banker — will work with the WAE Center group to generate art that reflects their feelings about how doors are thresholds to parts yet unknown.
Lead artist Amy Tingle states, “We’re creating the doorway we want to step through and shattering the illusion that any door is ever closed to us.”
The Gaelen Gallery East is open during JCC hours: Monday-Thursday, 5:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday, 5:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Contact Lisa Suss at 973-530-3413 or lsuss@jccmetrowest.org.
