Wanted: JVS volunteers
Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest is asking for the participation of the entire community in the eighth JVS/MetroWest Synagogue Jobathon (a phonathon for jobs) being held at the Alex Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus in Whippany on Sunday, Jan. 23, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Your assistance is more important than ever this year due to the ongoing economic and unemployment crisis. New Jersey currently has a 9.2 percent unemployment rate.
Unemployed members of our community continue to call JVS’s career counseling and placement department in record numbers and are expected to continue.
Please be a Jobathon volunteer on Jan. 23, making calls to community members to seek job leads (not donations); a short script will be provided. If you are called, please share any job opportunities you may know of, in any field — from the mailroom to the boardroom — or any personal company contacts you have.
To paraphrase Maimonides: The highest degree of charity is helping someone find work. We hope you will join us and do a mitzva on behalf of your friends and neighbors. Thank you in advance for your time and your support.
