Wilbur Franks
Wilbur Franks, 91, of Tobyhanna, Pa., died March 16, 2012. Born in Newark, he also had resided in Union, Lakewood, and Westfield.
Until his retirement, Mr. Franks was supervisor for Paper Mart in East Hanover.
He served in the U.S. Marines for four and a half years in the South Pacific during World War II.
Active in the Jewish War Veterans, he held numerous positions of rank, including past commander of JWV Post #34, Essex County Council Commander, Department of NJ Chief of Staff, and National Committeeman.
Predeceased by his wife, Frieda (Slotnick), he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Crites and Gilda Sevret, both of Albrightsville, Pa.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 20 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
